3 Steps for More Environmentally Friendly Printing

3 Steps for More Environmentally Friendly Printing

Although things are moving away from physical hard copies and towards digital paperless copies, there is still a lot of printing being done. How can we minimise our impact on the environment when we print then?

Pick the correct paper

It’s quite simple: pick recycled paper to print with. The quality of recycled paper has vastly improved in recent years, in fact the quality is now equal to that of virgin fibre paper. And what’s more, the cost has also improved. In fact, due to high demand for environmentally friendly paper, the price of recycled paper has aligned with conventional paper, now making it an affordable choice.

By switching to recycled paper, you could be saving 30,000 litres of water or 3000 – 4000 KWh of electricity for every ton of 100% recycled paper used, according to charity Waste Watch. Using recycled paper stops waste paper from ending up in landfills, which are a large source of methane emissions.

Recycle ink cartridges.

So many ink cartridges are discarded in landfills, where they can take up to 100 years to decompose. As well as this, millions of pounds are being thrown away. By recycling ink cartridges, you can not only be more environmentally friendly with your printing, but you can also make money. Empty cartridges will be bought by recycling companies and refilled so that nothing is wasted. What’s more, by recycling ink cartridges, you help to continue the demand for recycled products, making recycling a viable market for environmentally friendly goods to me made for.

Change your daily habits

By being more aware of the little things you do each day, you can help to put less of a strain on global forest resources. Forests are increasingly being sustainably managed, encouraging reductions in waste, a drive for more recycled goods and a lessened carbon footprint.

You can improve your carbon footprint everyday by taking small steps. You can shred confidential documents instead of binning them. These can then be recycled. You can also consider reusing packaging for office supplies, encouraging packaging to be recycled once new items of equipment have been unpacked.

It’s as simple and as easy that, three little steps you can take each day to do more environmentally friendly printing. For more information about recycling ink cartridges, visit www.cashforcartridges.co.uk
