Recycling Ink Cartridges Funds School Trip

Daphne High School has organised a fundraising opportunity that incorporates recycling to fund a nine-day trip to Costa Rica to help endangered leatherback sea turtles. Students, parents and the Daphne community are encouraged to donate their used printer ink cartridges and used cell phones by dropping them off at the school to be properly recycled.

Ms. Jaynes, the student's teacher, will turn the donated used items over to recycling centers that will pay cash for them. The recycling money raised will go toward helping students who will be participating in the trip to off-set some of the cost. Collection of the printer ink cartridges and cell phones has already begun and will continue throughout the rest of the school year.

The trip will will include working to rescue and help the endangered sea turtles, zip-lining through the rain forest and rafting trips. The trip may be included on future college resumes and applications and DHS students are encouraged to get involved.
