Recycling Push In New Plans

Nottingham county council are looking to push recycling goods such as ink cartridges to a new level with ambtious new plans.

Council bosses  are expressing concerns that landfill sites are "rapidly running out of space".

Nottinghamshire Country Council now plans to increase its existing 50 per cent recycling rate to 75 per cent by the year 2020. The council's cabinet member for environment and sustainability, Richard Butler, told the news provider that doing nothing about the landfill problem is simply not an option.

He explained: "We know that this is a very ambitious target, and one that everyone will find very difficult to meet in the current economic climate.

"However, circumstances could change well before 2020 and we have to take a long-term view."
